I consider myself lucky.
Not everyone can say they love what they do but also do what they what they love.
I am also lucky to have a wonderful client who embraces my creativity and welcomes not only my design work but my fine arts. So with as the Holidays quickly approaching, I offered to carve them a woodcut and hand print them Christmas cards. They loved the idea and I here I wanted to share the result.
I carved a lino block, 5.5″ x 8″ of their signature book character Gracie from Stories from the Rainforest. They are a children’s book publisher who currently publish three titles with many more on the way. I have been their designer since April and have joined their company as their contract Marketing and Social Media Director.
The Holiday Card Process
For those who don’t know me…aside from my love for graphic design, I studied fine arts. Specifically printmaking. For the lack of space and and a printer…
My Assembly Line:
Hand printed cards all in a row, drying, awaiting to be hand-colored. After all 50 my passion started to feel like work. Hand coloring took a while but in the end…Jeanne, the VP at “Stories…” is very pleased and happy to send out their very first company handmade holiday cards. And I…am happy to get back to my iMac
